There is nothing more romantic than a candle light dinner under the full moon at 2400 m a.s.l.. After an aperitif in front of the open fire, we will seduce your senses with a 4-course candlelit menu. Afterwards, enjoy the best view of the Mischabel group in the moonlight on the terrace with a fine digestif and a cosy blanket.
The cows spend the summer on the Triftalp. Of course they are happy about our visit. As is the alpine dairyman in charge, whom we can watch making cheese. He will tell us a lot about his hard everyday life on the alp. We meet at the valley station in Saas-Grund and travel together to the Trift intermediate station, from where it is a 10-minute walk to Triftalp. Here we meet the alpine dairyman or the cheese maker and take a short break. We return individually by train or on foot to Saas-Grund.
Get up with the marmots and take the cable car to Spielboden. Here you can enjoy the wonderful view and our delicious Valais breakfast. Afterwards, freshly invigorated, you make your way down towards the valley.
Valais breakfast: 2 cups of coffee or tea or 1 Ovomaltine or Caotina, glass of orange juice and Valais sparkling wine, bread basket with rolls and croissants, butter, homemade jam, beekeeper's honey and Nutella, alpine cheese, selection of Valais specialities, Lyon and salami, smoked trout, scrambled or fried eggs, Bircher muesli or cornflakes with milk.
After a short hike, it is time for a rest. Lunch time is approaching. That's for the Valaisan - time for an aperitif.
Apero at Spielboden: Plättli with house sausage, raw ham, bacon, dried meat, Almageller mountain cheese, rye bread, cornichons and pearl onion, served with a glass of Walliser Johannisberg (2dl).
You go on a hike to Spielboden or take the cable car. We start with a colourful salad bowl. Then we'll have farmehouse chicken with french fries and alpine herb-garlic mayo. Freshly strengthened and with a sack full of marmot food, you make your way back down into the valley.
Our Alpstein poultry comes from Mörschwil in St. Gallen. Here they grow up in small flocks in the open air. They are fed on ribbel maize and natural feed.
