Saastalnews

Always be up to date and know what's going on in the Saas Valley!

The financial stability of Saastal Bergbahnen was confirmed again in the past financial year, with annual profits in the millions. After a rather difficult summer in 2024, which was marked by severe weather, the winter season achieved record figures with around 550,000 first-time visitors and excellent winter sports conditions. With the new Metro Alpin funicular railway vehicles and the modernisation of the machinery and snow-making equipment, the 2024/25 financial year was once again characterised by very high investments.

To the media release

The Saas-Fee/Saas Valley tourism organisation is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025 - with an anniversary programme that involves the entire region. The celebrations will kick off on 27 June: a day of festivities for the population with demonstrations by schoolchildren, food and music. This is followed on 1 August by a gesture of thanks to the valley's guests - in keeping with Swiss National Day. The festive finale is the ‘Nostalgic pleasure mile’ on 7 September, where the employees take centre stage. The highlight of the evening: a live concert by Florian Ast. A special exhibition in the Saas Museum accompanies the entire anniversary year and impressively highlights the development of tourism in the region.

Saas-Fee/Saastal recently became the first Valais Swisstainable destination to be successfully classified at Level I - committed. Saas-Fee/Saastal has set itself the goal of setting the course towards sustainability as an entire destination.

Sustainable development is playing an increasingly central role in tourism in Saas-Fee/Saastal. In the Saas Valley in particular, the development due to climate change can be seen and experienced above all in nature and the landscape - the glaciers are retreating noticeably. The destination therefore wants to shape the future together with its service providers and lay the foundations for future generations with its work in the area of sustainability.
