Saas-Fee launches season pass for just CHF 222

23 October 2016

Saastal Bergbahnen AG has launched a new price concept for the 2016/17 winter season. From 23 October, Saas-Fee will offer season passes for just CHF 222. The concept is based on a crowdfunding approach in which the discounted price only becomes a reality if 99’999 passes are sold.

Alpine tourism is facing a challenge due to an imbalance of supply and demand. In many areas, the surplus of resorts means that costs can no longer be covered. Saas-Fee wants to solve the problem by introducing a revolutionary price concept.

An innovative price concept
From 23 October 2016, guests will be able to access the online platform for a period of five weeks to reserve a season pass for just CHF 222. Three-year and fifteen-year season passes will also be available on the site. The deal will only kick in if 99’999 passes are reserved in advance. If this does not happen, ski passes will be sold at current prices. “It’s up to our guests to decide if they want to go skiing for less,” explains Rainer Flaig, member of the administrative board of Saastal Bergbahnen AG.  “Our guests tend to stay for an average of four days. We want to make the price attractive for these customers. A four-day ski pass currently costs CHF 259; with the WinterCard Saas-Fee they can ski for less than that and, more importantly, for the whole winter,” adds Pascal Schär, CEO of Saastal Marketing AG.

Strong partners on board
We have managed to secure some strong cooperation partners for the WinterCard Saas-Fee campaign, including Ringier (media partner), Raiffeisen, Postauto, Swisspass, Ochsner Sport, BKW and the SportScheck network.
