Within a 2 hour drive, you reach many places to discover. Be it the world renowned Matterhorn in Zermatt or the relaxing thermal baths in Leukerbad.

Zermatt

Close to the Free Republic of Holidays Saas-Fee, the popular winter ski destination Zermatt is located. Home to the popular Matterhorn, Zermatt is the perfect place for a day excursion. Aside the Matterhorn, there are many activities to explore. For example Matterhorn Skidiving or a ride in the Gornergrat Railway. Zermat itself is car free which means that you cannot arrive directly by car. You will have to take the Glacier Express. This counts equally for an arrival by bus.Arrival1 hour by car.2 hours by bus and train.

Matterhorn

One of the most popular and most photographed mountains worldwide. With 4.478m it attracts many, brave mountaineers, that strive to reach the top at least once in their life.
In 1865 mounted for the first time, the Matterhorn is renowned for its pyramid-like shape.

Gornergrat Railway

It is the second highest railway in Europe, right after the Jungfraubahn, and leads from the Monta-Rosa region up to Zermatt. The Gornergrat Railway is especially popular due to its great view on the Matterhorn. It takes aproximately 45 minutes from Zermatt up to the Gornergrat.

Skydive Matterhorn

A thrilling experience promises Skydive Matterhorn. With a panorama flight above the Rothorn and the Gornergrat in advance, it then goes towards the Matterhorn. From a height of 5000m you jump accompanied by an instructor and with a special glasses against the cold.

Matterhorn Museum

Exciting stories about past decades of mountaineering and tradtion-rich exhibition objects let you experience Zermatt’s past times. For example the dramatic first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865, where four of the seven people died.It is possible to purchase the entrance ticket online.

Heidadorf / Visperterminen

Within an one hour drive you reach the region of Heidadorf / Visperterminen. The cozy village up on the mountain side offers a fantastic panoramic view onto the Valais mountains. The wine has a special meaning. As the highest wine harvesting area in Europe, it attracts many wine experts from around the globe. Try it yourself!

Highest vineyards in Europe

At an altitude of 1.150m, the highest wineyard in Europe is located. The best-known variety is the Heida, which has given the village its name.The wine growing culture in Visperterminen has a long history of tradition, which dates back to the age of the Celts (5th and 6th century.).Guided hikes are offered.

St. Jodern winery

Since 1980, wine is being produced in the St. Jodern winery. Back then with 120 cooperative members, today with more than 500. Approximately, 300.000 litres for 18 different wines are produced yearly.

Chirlihandstees

The original „Chirlihandstees“ were worn as part of the traditional costume in the past. Today however, they have become an accessory. What has not changed since then is the production procedure. All wrist warmers are handcrafted by local women.

Brig

Only one hour from the Free Republic of Holidays Saas-Fee, Brig is located. Surrounded by the picturesque mountain villages is the region worth a visit every season of the year.Visit the impressive Stockalperschloss or the relaxing thermal baths Brigerbad.

Stockalperschloss

The Stockalperschloss is located as a symbol of wealth and power in the centre of Brig. Mid 17th century, the castle was built by Kaspar Jodok von Stockalper; 1948 the castle’s ownership was given to the city of Brig. Guided tours are being offered.

Thermal baths Brigerbad

A special relaxing experience provides the thermal spa Brigerbad with its 38 degrees warm, lithium-containing, sodium-calcium-sulphate thermal water. Gleitschirm-Tandemflug

Airvolution offers tandem flights in the Aletsch region. In the areas of the Belalp, the Riederalp and the Rosswald, which all surround Brig.A special highlight is a tandem flight from the Belalp, where you start your flight right from the slopes and then glide towards Brig.
