The Kapellenweg leading from Saas-Grund to Saas-Fee is lined with 15 small chapels. German author Carl Zuckmayer took this path on his very first visit to Saas-Fee back in 1938. At the end of that hike, his first sight of the majestic Mischabel Chain left an impression that literally lasted a lifetime.

Setting off from Saas-Grund, and heading in the direction of Saas-Almagell, the trail follows the River Saaser Vispa to the Kapellenweg campsite. Shortly before reaching the Feeschlucht (Fee ravine), the trail branches off to the right towards Saas-Fee. Each of the small chapels along the way tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ, and the focal point of the whole trail is the Gnadenkapelle (Mercy Chapel), known as Zur Hohen Stiege. The trail comes to an end at the WellnessHostel4000 in Saas-Fee.
