How can I participate in SWUG?
Initially, each university is permitted to enter up to two teams into SWUG. A maximum of 40 teams will be selected. All team members must be matriculated at the same university and consist of two female and two male participants. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration opens on 1 September at 8 a.m. From 15 December 2017 at 6 p.m., teams from all Swiss universities can apply for the remaining places – also on a first-come-first-served basis.
To secure your chance of gaining a better starting position and/or SWUG wildcard, you should participate in the SWUG pre-games (see the programme for details) SWUG Pre-Games.
How much does it cost to enter SWUG?
The entry fee for students costs CHF 210 if the inscription is done untill November 30. After the price is CHF 230.00. The fee for alumni students is CHF 360.00
This includes: Two nights’ accommodation in a double room incl. breakfast; a two-day ski pass; participation fee; welcome drinks reception; gala dinner; lunch on Saturday and Sunday (no drinks included on the Sunday); plus admission and a drinks voucher for the SWUG party. Participants also receive various goodies.
Must all members of the team be enrolled at the same university?
In principle, yes. The jury shall decide if any justifiable exceptions are permitted.
What equipment can be used for the Giant Slalom, Speed and Mix Race disciplines?
Skis, snowboards, telemark skis, ski boards and race boards. The jury shall decide if any equipment not listed here is permitted.
Can I compete in a race suit?
In what order must the disciplines be completed and are there fixed start times?
Start times are allocated to each team at the briefing session on Friday evening. After the first round, there are no more fixed start times. The order is decided according to the
number of SWUG Badges, which can be collected at the SWUG pre-games up to 26 February 2018.
Where can I find videos and photos of the day?
You can view your action videos and fun photos at adrenalincup.saas-fee.ch. Simply register and enter your ski pass number.
What happens if I miss a gate?
All runs are monitored via video, and the captured footage is used as authoritative evidence. If it is clear from the video footage that a gate was missed, the run will not count. You can, however, repeat the discipline.
What happens if my run is not fully recorded due to technical problems?
If the entirety of a run is not visible on video, it will be automatically disqualified.
Do I receive a bib number? if so, must I wear it at all times?
All participants receive a bib number. This number must be worn for the duration of the competition, otherwise you will not be eligible to participate.
Do I need to be a good skier or snowboarder to participate in SWUG?
Participation in SWUG requires intermediate to advanced skiing or snowboarding skills. Participants should be able to safely master a red slope. In addition, participants require stamina, strength and creativity.
Is a inspection of the course possible before the race commences?
No inspection is given of the Giant Slalom, Mix Race and Speed courses. The Snow Relay Race will be explained in advance. The jury will announce the order of the relay race and course tour times on Saturday evening.
What happens if I, as team leader, need to unsubscribe my team after having paid or a teammate must be replaced?
In principle, it is your responsibility to organize a replacement team. If this is not possible, the following refund conditions apply: 100% for cancellations up to 15 January 2018; 50% for cancellations up to 15 February 2018. What percentage of the amount paid is reimbursed to me if the event is cancelled?
In principle, all unused funds are reimbursed if the organizing committee cancels the event. Even in the event of early cancellation, however, some costs may have already been incurred (i.e. accommodation cancellation costs). All refunds and details regarding the amount will go directly to the participants.
Will the SWUG take place under all circumstances?
In principle, yes. But if, for unforeseen reasons, the event has to be cancelled or the program needs to be changed, all team leaders will be notified immediately via e-mail.
