Travel

Saas-Fee and the Saas Valley are located in southern Switzerland and are easily reached on public transport. The valley is also conveniently located between three international airports - Zurich, Geneva and Milan.

The large car park at the entrance to Saas-Fee offers 3,000 parking spaces, and ample parking spaces are also available in Saas-Grund, Saas-Almagell and Saas-Balen.

Saas-Fee is the only car-free village in the Alps that has direct access to a public road.

By car

From the north

Drive via Bern through the Lötschberg (car-train) tunnel.

From the east

Drive via the Furka pass or take theFurka car-train. Please note that the Furka pass is closed in winter.

From the south

Drive via the Simplon pass (or take the Simplon car-train).

From the west

Drive via Lausanne, along the Rhone Valley to Visp.

Travelling by train or by bus

Those travelling by rail should take the train to Brig or Visp and then change onto a Postauto bus heading directly to Saas-Fee. There are half-hourly connections from Visp until 7:10 p.m, afterwards 8:10 p.m, 9:10 p.m and 10:40 p.m. (11:40 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays).

You also have the option of checking in your luggage at your local station and then collecting it at one of the Postauto bus stations.

Thanks to the new Lötschberg base tunnel - part of the NEAT high-speed rail link through the Alps - visitors travelling from the north of Switzerland can now cut their journey time by a whole hour.

Hotel guests
Guests arriving by public transport should call their hotel from the pay phones at the post office or tourist office to be picked up with an electric hotel car.

Guests in holiday apartments
Your rental agreement or brochure will state whether your host will pick you up in an electric car or provide you with a handcart. Additional handcarts are available from the tourist office for a deposit.

Travelling by air

Geneva, Zurich, Milan (IT) and Basel airports can all be reached on public transport within three hours from Saas-Fee and the Saas Valley.
