Saas Valley Fairy-Tale Week 22 - 29 July 2017

“Once upon a time…”

Fairy tales are one of the oldest forms of literature in the world and have been delighting readers of all ages for centuries. Every country, every region, and every community has its own fables and legends. The Saas Valley’s Fairy-Tale Week is dedicated entirely to this phenomenon. Immerse yourself in enchanting worlds of wonder, sorcery, heroes and heroines!

There are countless myths and legends surrounding the origin of our village’s name, Saas-Fee. Could it have something to do with the faeries (fairy is “Fee” in German) that are said to dwell in our forests? We’re not sure, but anyone who has taken a walk among the trees in the quiet hours of the morning or evening will agree that the idea doesn’t seem so far-fetched. Come and discover more about this and many other bewitching tales.

Over the coming weeks, our faeries, goblins and mountain spirits will reveal more and more about what awaits you during Fairy-Tale Week. Prepare to be enchanted…

Klapperlapapp Fairy-Tale and Legends Festival 24 - 25 July 2017

We are particularly excited to welcome the Klapperlapapp Fairy-Tale and Legends Festival to Saas-Fee. Engaging storytellers will regale festival visitors with delightful and exciting fairy tales from a variety of lovingly decorated stages. The stages will be situated around Melchboden, which provides just the right setting with its dreamy woodland, picture-perfect pond, and nearby Fairy-Tale Trail. Can you hear a rustling among the trees?

Legendary holiday ideas

A short walk along the Fairy-Tale Trail is a real treat for all fans of fabulous tales. The trail is open year-round and signs placed along the path will tell you why, for example, no more serpents can be found by the road from Saas-Almagell to Saas-Fee.

Those who prefer to stay nice and cosy indoors should head to the Storytelling evening in the Saaserstübli.

There are also plenty of mystical and spectacular experiences to be had at the redesigned Ice Pavilion. Journey deep into a secret and beautiful ice palace at an altitude of 3,500 m. Discover the rich and glittering treasures hidden beneath the thick ice of the Fee Glacier, guarded by giant ice dragons, spiders and bears. Welcome to a very magical place!
