2010 we saw the fourth edition of the Jens Blatter fundraising marathon. In this year the final cycling stage finished on 31 July in Saas-Fee. On 1 August competitors raced up the eternal ice of the village's surrounding glaciers to climb to the summit cross of the Allalin.

| Visp - Sicily (Etna) - Saas-Fee (Allalin)
We Race for Children is the slogan of the huge fundraising cycling marathon Jens Blatter and his team organise every two years. In 2010 participants raced from Visp in the Valais, down to Mount Etna in Italy and back up to Saas-Fee.
A fundraising torch was carried from Visp, down the western coast of Italy to Mount Etna on Sicily and then back up the eastern coast to the Upper Valais. The finish line was at a height of 4,027 metres above sea level on the summit of the Allalinhorn in Saas-Fee. With participants travelling from the fires of Mount Etna to the icy peaks of the Swiss Alps, the course could not be more diverse.
The organisers are delighted to report that 70 participants have signed up, which means this year?s race is full.
Along the way, the team will be collecting donations for the Eduplex children?s project in Pretoria. Sponsors can ?buy? whole stretches of the course, pledging a Swiss franc for every kilometre. These donations will be passed on to the children?s project in their entirety.
