Saas-Balen

The charming little mountain village of Saas-Balen is situated at the entrance to the Free Republic of Holidays Saas-Fee and is particularly popular with those who love getting out into the country.

Cheese enthusiasts should not miss out on a tasty trip up to the dairy on Europe’s highest Alpine pastures, on the Hoferalp. Art and architecture fans also love the village for its late-baroque round church, which is unique in Switzerland. Winter is a relaxed and easy-going affair, with ski lifts that can carry even the smallest skiers up to the slopes. The natural ice rink draws ice-skaters who want to try a different kind of “stage”, and those who like exploring can try skiing down the valley from Saas-Grund to Saas-Balen.
